Day 6 - Graves r us

Started the day with a walk round Taos, visiting the Kit Carson Museum where we saw a short presentation (by the History Channel) about the man's life and listened to a talk also. We then visited the cemetery where the Carson family, including Kit, are buried. We also managed to find Rocky Road Chocolate shop - what a surprise! - where Jenny bought a couple of pieces of Rocky Road choc, which we had to eat immediately before it started to melt, very nice. On leaving Taos, we took the scenic byway, as opposed to the most direct route, to Santa Fe. Great scenery once again, lots of people on bikes slogging up the interminable hills (are they mad?) Arrived late afternoon in Santa Fe, obtained info. from Tourist Office, parked up and took a minibus tour of Santa Fe - many, many galleries and studios, very arty. Discovered that the one place Jenny really wanted to see, the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, is closed until 25th September - bummer! Jenny bought a selection of quilting materials with Southwestern motifs - might get around to doing something with them one day, don't hold your breath. Eventually checked into the Quality Inn on southern outskirts of Santa Fe, now looking forward to a nice meal somewhere as we haven't eaten since breakfast.
