Started the day at the Roswell Museum and Arts Center. An excellent museum well worth a visit if you are ever in the area. We were particularly taken by paintings by Peter Hurd. So much so that we came away with a couple of prints. http://www.nmculturaltreasures.org/cgi-bin/instview.cgi?_recordnum=ROSW
Followed this up with a visit to the UFO Museum and Research Center. Well - what can we say?? The conspiracy theory seems to be making a lot of money for the traders in the town.
Took the opportunity to take a quiz photo. Which one is the alien?
On leaving the museum, it was very humid as we made our way South on the 285; it wasn't long before we were in the middle of a storm. Still raining as we passed through Artesia (1903 initial drilling for water, 20 years later drilling yielded oil, now home of New Mexico's largest petroleum refinery). Ended up in Carlsbad for the night at a motel boasting NM's largest tequila selection - they must have known Jenny was coming!
